IB Diploma Programme: Curriculum Structure & Overview
The IBDP curriculum consists of the DP core and six subject groups. Students choose one subject from each group (some exceptions apply), typically three at Higher Level (HL) and three at Standard Level (SL). The DP core—Theory of Knowledge (TOK), Extended Essay (EE), and Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS)—broadens learning beyond academics.
The IB emphasizes critical thinking, intercultural understanding, independent research, and holistic development. The program is taught over two years and culminates in externally assessed exams and coursework.
